Altus lands Tennis Across America event

The 18th annual USPTA Tennis Across America program is sponsored by the United States Professional Tennis Association.The events will be free to the public and will feature instructional tennis clinic. Beginners and advanced players, both juniors and adults, as well as those who have never played tennis before are invited on Saturday, Sept. 15 from 9 to 11am. to participate in this nationwide event. It will be held at the Altus High School tennis courts on Park Lane.“Millions of Americans have already discovered that tennis is an enjoyable way to keep fit," said Tim Heckler, CEO of USPTA. “Through this event we hope to show millions more that it can be fun for them, too, and that tennis is a great sport for life."USPTA is the world's oldest and largest nonprofit organization of tennis-teaching professionals.


First Walk for ALS planned in MacGregor

The community of MacGregor is once again coming together to support an excellent cause as the village prepares for its first Walk for ALS. �We�ve seen a lot of community support,� said organizer Edith Hulley. �Because somebody in the community is affected (with the disease), it impacts a lot of people.� Walk for ALS, technically called amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and more commonly known as Lou Gehrig�s disease, will take place on Sept. 23 starting at Nor-Mac Centre in MacGregor. .
